Garage Doors from Overhead Door Co. of Indianapolis & Muncie

Residential garage doors vary in style, panel design and size.

Style

We offer these styles of garage doors:

  • Traditional garage doors include the standard sectional garage doors on many homes (long or short panel). Many are white, but beige and brown are also common.
  • Carriage garage doors can be a form of traditional doors. They’re ornate with decorative handles and hinges but can also be more minimalist and modern.
  • Modern garage doors don’t feature handle hinges and usually have a flush panel design. Overhead Door’s modern garage doors are aluminum.
  • Farmhouse garage doors offer a rustic look made with a realistic, wood-like composite atop an aluminum or steel garage door. This style may include barn-like hardware, such as hinges or garage door handle(s), which are often purely decorative.

Panel

The three main types of door panel designs include:

  • Raised: Raised panels — the classic style of garage doors — offer depth and distinction and complement nearly any type of home.
  • Recessed: Recessed panels are the opposite of raised panels, although the two have a similar look.
  • Flush: Flush, or flat, panels are flat and slightly textured, and can complement a home’s architecture without drawing too much attention to the door itself.

Size

Some houses have a two-car garage while others have smaller, single-car garages that require smaller doors. Standard garage door sizes are whole-width increments starting at 8 feet wide and going to 20 feet wide.

Some series have sizes smaller than that. Standard heights are 7 feet and 8 feet tall. Other heights and widths are also available and vary by individual series. We can install multiple smaller doors to accommodate a large space.

Construction

Garage doors are constructed as single-layer, double-layer or triple-layer. The most economical choice, single-layer doors don’t have any insulation. Double-layer garage doors are insulated.

Triple-layer garage doors have sandwich construction, which consists of insulation between two materials, usually steel. The extra layer provides better energy efficiency and soundproofing.
